ABI Donation and Update

2012 January 26
by evie

Hey everyone! Donations have been on a very slow trickle for a while, but I still will be receiving them as long as artists want to participate.

Good news, I was able to send our $55 to World Vision to where it’s needed most and this brings our cumulative total to $1017.52!

Thank you artists and supporters of ABI and especially our two contributers:

ABI Donation for Japan: $54

2011 June 12
by evie

Hi there ABI artists and friends. This year has been noticeably slower for donations and participation in ABI. I haven’t been able to put the time into recruiting new artists and keeping everyone already involved motivated and inspired. I’m hoping to be able to put more time into it towards the end of the year, with possible changes to the format of ABI. I appreciate all those that have continued supporting the movement!

We were able to make a $54 donation to the relief efforts in Japan through World Vision.

Some 31 days since the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami, there are still thousands homeless, still thousands missing, and still thousands who must rebuild their lives from the rubble that this tremor has left behind. To that end, World Vision is still there — and will be, for the days, weeks, and months to come, helping children and families recover a sense of normalcy, stability, and independence. { excerpt taken from WV update, A Long Road Ahead }

After the quake I held an auction for Japan, donating the funds from a beautiful handmade scarf to ABI. And thanks to the additional donors:

How Artists Can Help Japan

2011 March 11
by evie

With the massive quake and tsunami that struck Japan today, many artists and bloggers are asking the question, “How can we help?” A Beautiful Idea was formed just for this purpose. We are turning our focus and efforts towards the East and I’m asking you to be a part. If you haven’t already, you can join ABI’s network of artists. If you are a blogger, you can help spread the word. Art can change the world. Artists can make a difference.

Our donations will be sent to World Vision’s Disaster Response Fund, that will help rush emergency supplies like life-saving food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter to those who need it most in the aftermath of sudden-onset disasters like this one.

If you are new to A Beautiful Idea, read this brief description on how everything works.

Calling All Artists

2011 January 8
by evie

Last year, 58 artists participated in ABI, giving a total of $909.42 in donations! This year, our goal is to add 100 new artists to the movement.

Things are a little different this year. Instead of giving 100% of the sale of an item, YOU decide how much you want to give and how often. Maybe it’s 10% of all your sales. Maybe it’s 25% of the sale of one item. It’s up to you. All we ask is that you participate in some way, and perhaps we can make an even bigger impact together this year.

We’d also love to see a broader scope of artists participate – Photographers, writers, musicians…pretty much anyone that wants to use their art form to make a difference.

Haiti Still Needs Our Help

Last year we focused our donations on Haiti relief via World Vision. We are continuing to do so in the New Year. What’s cool about this year, is that for every dollar we donate, it will be multiplied 5 times thanks to grant funds. So if we raise $1000, it will be multiplied to $5000. Wow! What a difference that could make!

This ongoing support will help World Vision continue their response to the devastating earthquake, and also meet new needs. With the deadly cholera outbreak in Haiti, World Vision is providing clean water and helping improve hygiene.

Let’s do it!

Year End Update and Donation

2010 December 15
by evie

I can’t believe December is half-way over and a new year is right around the corner. I’m so proud to report that ABI has raised over $800 this year for Haiti Earthquake and Pakistani flood victims. A year end donation of $143 was made as a general gift where needed most.

Thank you to everyone who participated this year. Since having my second baby in June, I haven’t been able to spend as much time spreading the word and keeping the momentum going as much as I would have liked. BUT, I’m hoping to enter the new year with renewed vigor to gather more artists and make an even bigger impact. Will you join me?

Thanks to everyone who donated the last two months:

World Vision is providing basic necessities like food, water, and shelter as well as sanitation and health care to the Pakistani people.
